Eyewear Frames
At Watauga Eye Center, PA we offer a variety of designer frames. Despite the popularity of contact lenses and laser surgery to correct vision problems, many people find eyeglasses necessary or desirable for their personal preference. The improved technology that goes into manufacturing frames have made them more enjoyable to wear. Eyeglasses create a popular method of stating one’s personal style.

Eyewear Lenses
There are a lot of options to consider when looking at prescription lenses. The best way to select lenses is to determine your needs based on your lifestyle, and then discuss the lens “solutions” with your eyecare professional.

  • Single vision: This all-purpose lens is available in all materials and provides vision correction for one viewing area. The corrected area can be for far distance or near distance.

  • Multifocals: Will be recommended when you require correction for both distance and near viewing areas in one single pair of glasses. Available as no-line progressives, bifocals or trifocals.

  • No-Line Progressives: Designed to allow you to see at distance (driving a vehicle), intermediate (looking at the dashboard), and near (reading a map) with no lines or sections. The absence of bifocals lines makes this lens the most desirable cosmetically. You will also enjoy continuous vision from far to near with this lens design.

  • Bifocals: Provide both far and near correction in one lens. A visible line divides the two areas providing a visible segment for near viewing.

  • Trifocals: Provide both far and near correction in one lens. A visible line divides the two areas providing a visible segment for near viewing.

  • High Index: A lens material made of a special plastic and is graded by a number, such as 1.60 up to 1.74. The higher the number, the thinner and lighter the lens. This is a great option for a patient with high prescriptions giving them a more attractive lens.

  • Don’t Forget the Kids: For children we recommend high impact resistance lenses. The most impact resistant lenses on the market are a great choice for the active youngster or teen. They combine a UV filter and scratch resistant coating to give your children overall protection. Can be combined with photochromics to add protection from bright glaring sunlight.

  • Customize your eyes: The following features and lens treatments can be added to your lens material and design to produce a custom lens system that best suits you.

  •
    • UV Filter: A treatment applied to a lens to protect the eyes from the exposure of harmful UV rays. This extra treatment is not necessary on all lens materials for the fact that certain lens materials already block harmful UV rays.
    • Anti-Reflective Coating: A treatment applied to front and back surface of a lens to reduce the amount of internal and external reflections from artificial light. This treatment increases the amount of light transmitted through a lens, improving the quality of vision. This treatment is great for night driving, and for computer use. Anti-glare is great from a cosmetic standpoint giving the lenses an invisible appearance.
    • Transitions (photochromic): This is a lens chemically treated so that when exposed to UV, the lens will darken. This means that while in a building, car, and any enclosed area the lens will be clear. Transitions are increasingly becoming more and more popular due to the fact they get darker
    • Sunglasses: From plano (non prescription) to prescription sunglasses there are many varieties, styles and colors. The most important thing to remember when purchasing sunglasses is that the lenses block 100 percent of harmful UV rays. The optical department at Watauga Eye Center guarantees that your purchase of sunwear meets this most important criteria.

We do offer several brands of sunwear. From designer sunwear such as L’Amy Columbia, Michael Kors, Coach, Tommy Hilfiger, Nike, Nautica, and Vera Bradley and to any ophthalmic frame of your choice.
